Listia is an online marketplace where you win other people's stuff using credits instead of money.
When you join Listia, you get 500 credits. You earn more credits every time you list an item and other users bid on it. Then you can use your credits to buy cool things other people are giving away.

How to Sign Up
Getting started with Listia is easy and free! Below are the different ways of signing up with our site. New users get 500 free credits to start:
Standard Sign Up
Visit www.listia.com to sign up and register. All you need to do is enter a user name, email and password. After you confirm your registration through the confirmation email, you’re all set!
Facebook Sign Up
You can register and sign up for Listia with Facebook! Simply go to www.listia.com and click on the "Sign Up with Facebook" icon. A pop-up window will appear for you to login and click "Allow" on the Facebook login form. Signing up through Facebook will get you 50 bonus credits.
Referral Link Sign Up
If a friend referred you to Listia, use their unique URL link to sign up. This way your friend will receive bonus credits for referring friends and you will get 100 bonus credits for signing up through a referral! The steps of signing up are the same as the standard sign up.
How to Get Credits
The best way to get the most credits is to give away your stuff. Find something around the house or office that you don't need anymore create a listing. You might also receive bonus credits for doing activities such as listing, bidding, commenting, leaving feedback and checking in. However, you don't receive credits every time, and there is a limit on how many you can get in one day. The more active you are, the more chances you have of getting bonus credits.

How to Create a Listing
The screenshot below is the List an Item page where you can begin earning credits!
To list an item, you must enter information in the required Title and Category fields (subcategory if applicable). We strongly suggest using clear photos and a detailed description to attract the most bids.
Shipping information is very important to include in your listing (if applicable). The three types of shipping methods include: Local pickup, Ship within US, and Ship Internationally. Most users offer Free Shipping when listing, so be sure to indicate what shipping method and possible payment methods you prefer.
Show Advanced Options
By clicking on 'Show Advanced Options', you will see additional information such as Start Bid, Get It Now and # of Days.
Once you enter all the available information, you can click 'List' to start your listing!
Note: By clicking 'List', you agree to abide by Listia rules and terms of use. You also agree to follow through on your listing regardless of the final bid amount. Users who are in violation of these terms may be suspended.

Avoiding Scams
You can avoid potential scammers by following these common-sense rules:
- BUY FROM SELLERS WITH GREAT FEEDBACK AND/OR ACCOUNT VERIFICATION
This is the easiest way to avoid most scammers - IF THE SELLER DOES NOT HAVE A REPUTATION YET, LOOK FOR LISTINGS WITH FREE SHIPPING
Most scams involve shipping money, so listings with free shipping are your best bet if you are not sure you can trust the seller - USE PAYPAL TO PAY FOR SHIPPING, BUT DO NOT USE THE GIFT OPTION
You can contact paypal to recover shipping money in case there is a problem, but not if you choose the "gift" or "personal payment" option - IF YOU ARE PAYING FOR SHIPPING, AVOID SENDING CASH, CHECKS, MONEY ORDERS AND NEVER SEND WIRE TRANSFERS
These types of payments are extremely hard to recover in case the seller does not ship your item or there is some other dispute, and Listia is unable to help recover shipping money - IF YOU DO SEND PAYMENT BY MAIL, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVIDENCE OF PAYMENT
These types of payments are extremely hard to track in case the seller claims they never received payment, and Listia is unable to refund credits unless you have definitive proof of payment (ie, bank statement showing personal check was cleared and a copy of the check) - DO NOT CLICK THE "GOT IT" BUTTON...
...until you actually receive your items! - LISTIA IS NOT INVOLVED IN THE ACTUAL EXCHANGE OF GOODS
We provide an open marketplace for listing items and transferring credits between users, but do not handle any payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer protection against loss - NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Bank accounts, credits cards, social security, etc. - BID ON 'MYSTERY' LISTINGS AT YOUR OWN RISK
Some users like to post 'mystery listings' where you don't know what you are going to get for sure. If you bid on these, we cannot refund credits if you do not like the outcome and the seller has technically given you what the listing describes. - IF A LISTING SEEMS FISHY OR 'TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE'...
...it probably is! Avoid these completely and stick with the listings from the thousands of great trusted Listia users out there
